Female Papillons

Name: Dark Ruby Chantal “Chanty”
Sire: Dark Ruby Larimar
Dam: Dark Ruby Natalia Goncharova
Color: e/Em RALY(2) Ay/At kb(1)
COI: 2.1% calculated at 10 generations; incomplete past generation 9
Temperament: Independent, watchful, sporty, hates goats
OFA CHIC #: 183933
Pedigree, OFA, DNA

Chanty came to us from the Dark Ruby program in Italy belonging to breeder Matilde Chiofalo. Chanty is definitely not one of our “front and center” attention hogs, but prefers to be a little more independent and then sneak in time with us. For example, whenever I leave the house to do farm chores, Chanty figures out a way to sneak out the door before me so she can come along. This is no easy feat because she has to jump onto our kitchen counter and use it like a catwalk to bypass a baby gate that only works on about half of my dogs anyway. Once outside, Chanty harasses the goats. Chanty has a huge, high set plume of a tail and a beautiful petite face. She is what I call a “fake” black and white because she carries dominant black. Dominant black masks the A locus but a little bit of A locus color (in her case, brown) can bleed through around the eyes. A true black and white, in my opinion, is two recessive blacks where there is no bleeding through of color. Nevertheless, puppies from Chanty will have a 50% chance of being fake black and white too.

Name: Sablewings Last Unicorn “Kimchi”
Sire: Butterfly Wings Louis King
Dam: Silvermorning’s Geisha
Color: e/e i/N RALY(0) Ay/A
COI: 3.4% calculated at 10 generations
Temperament: Affectionate, playful, spastic, extremely intelligent
OFA CHIC #: 183931
Pedigree, OFA, DNA

Kimchi, or ChiChi Gonzales, is out of our last Miko and Mochi breeding and has a huge personality that is a combination of both of her parents’. Everywhere she goes Kimchi acts as if she is just arriving at her own fabulous birthday party. She is spastic, unpredictable, full of joy, and a great jumper. Like her mother she is an excellent training dog with high motivation to “get it right.” Like her father she has done some idiotic things like get on our kitchen counter just to revenge poop.

Name: Sablewings Baby Meatloaf “The Loaf”
Sire: Krasota I Gratsia Gaudri
Dam: Monarch’s Red Medlar
Color: e/Em i/N RALY(1) AyAt
COI: 3.4% calculated at 10 generations
Temperament: Affectionate, playful, spastic, extremely intelligent
OFA CHIC #: 170175
Pedigree, OFA, DNA

The Loaf is out of our Tito and Peaches breeding from a litter. I did not pick her name… my husband did. I’m embarrassed to write it out here. She is what my husband calls a “man’s dog” and is very much like her mother, Peaches. She’s assertive, noisy, loves to eat, proud, not very elegant, and large and in charge. She has drop ears but has only produced erect eared puppies in her previous litter. We love her sweet face, pumpkin coloring, and bossy attitude. She does have the annoying habit of watching through the slits of our fence to see if anything moves, but that is The Loaf.

Name: Sablewings Sweet Little Lies “Wish” (Has 1 AKC major, 11 pts)
Sire: Butterfly Wings Louis King
Dam: Tuiscalo’s Sweet True Lies
Color: e/e i/N RALY(0) Ay/Ay
COI: 2.48% calculated at 10 generations; incomplete past generation 9
Temperament: Affectionate, loves toys, confident
OFA CHIC #: 191176
Pedigree, OFA, DNA

Wish inherited a nice blend of her father and mother’s personality; Miko and Tuike, respectively. The moment her mother Tuike arrived in the US she acted like she owned the place and Wish has much the same personality type. She has a good “off switch” in the house and rests in my lap, along with several other competitors, while I am working. Outside she loves to come along and do farm chores with a huge ball in her mouth. She has a very sound little structure and struts herself around like a thoroughbred horse, shaking her ball. As she has grown she has become an incredible gymnast and enjoys balancing herself on top of our useless baby gate, as shown below. Wish was a singleton in Tuike’s last litter and I was able to capture some touching moments between her and her mother, shown in the gallery below.
